Help Close the Opportunity Gap

for Milwaukee-area children

MCP is resolutely committed to closing the opportunity gap in Milwaukee.
This commitment is demonstrated in the love and resources that we pour into our scholars and the professional development and other support we provide our staff.

Removing Barriers for Scholar Success

At MCP, we support the entire child. We offer pre-K, mental health services, nutritional support, intervention services, and after-school programs. This in addition to our character-first approach to learning.

Growing a Team of Educators from Within

Staff recruitment, retention and professional development, including programs like our EA-to-Teacher Pipeline and other compensation strategies, assist MCP in retaining and rewarding great educators.

Get to Know MCP

For nearly three decades, Milwaukee College Prep has been redefining what’s possible in urban education. As a network of four public charter schools serving families in central Milwaukee, MCP offers a leading K-8 education free of charge to 2,000 children in some of the city’s most underserved communities.

In fall 2022, MCP expanded, launching a prekindergarten program featuring accessible, high-quality, early childhood education focused on both social-emotional and academic development in 3- and 4-year-old children. MCP is proudly removing barriers and closing the indefensible opportunity gap in our city.

Public funding for traditional public school students and charter and choice students varies significantly. Inequitable funding threatens the mission of schools like MCP.

According to the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), “the funding gap between Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and charter schools is significant, with charter schools receiving between $5,000 and $6,000 less per student than MPS, creating a substantial burden on charter schools to fundraise for basic operations and transportation costs.”

Supporting Our Scholars

Lower per-pupil funding impacts schools like MCP that serve Black and low-income families. Donor support is crucial to close our annual funding gap so we can provide a transformative educational experience like we have since 1997. Your gift provides direct access to a high-performing, supportive school environment. Your support will help fund these critical interventions including:

Continued investment in proven academic accelerator platforms and intervention tools.

Staff recruitment, retention & professional development, which assist MCP in retaining and rewarding great educators.
